The GP Unique
As far as hot hatchbacks go you'll be hard-pressed to find a more powerful than the GP Unique. It's got big intakes as well as arch extensions, and a two-part rear wing and the type of features typically reserved for glitzy French unicorns.
Thankfully, the GP Unique doesn't just look like a car, it also feels fast. Its engine is smooth, powerful and its 332lb-ft torque arrives with little fuss at speeds below 1,750rpm. It's also a good match with the quick-shifting, six-speed automatic transmission. It's a shame the GP Unique doesn't have a manual option, but Mini is clear about its emphasis on lap times and an auto is definitely the best choice here.
However, it's not without flaws. The GP Unique's suspension is sturdy but it's not a lot of fun. On a straight and smooth B road, you can easily work the chassis's limits of dynamic, but it's difficult to remain fluid with your inputs. The front end becomes slightly snatchy and the car is unable to keep its course when it's under the pressure of irregular British bumps.
When you dial into the GP Unique, its handling is superb. Its front and body control remind us of the JCW racecar we drove last season. On a slick surface and when you're in a determined mood, it's a true pleasure to drive.
The chassis of the car is distinct from the standard MT-09 due to its higher torsional rigidity and larger axles. The new GP's 24.7 degrees of rake and 108mm of trail feel more on the nose as compared to the R6. However, it translates to incredible stability at the turn.
The PO Generator module is another fantastic feature in GP. This lets you take a look at your on hand quantities, min/max levels that you've set up for each item and any open POs from your suppliers (ie more inventory is on the way) and then generate a list of suggested purchase orders which you can forward to your suppliers.

The GP500 displayed subtle rainbow colors when watching the Adam Project. These were very easy to spot but they did not annoy viewers and did not impact the viewing experience.
The sound is also impressive. The GP500 has an onboard independent DSP chip that includes the treVolo psychoacoustic tuning system which creates 3D audio effects. It uses an internal quad-speaker layout, which is located in every corner of the cabinet. This is designed to create a sound field that is fully immersive for every person, regardless of where they are seated within the room.

The GP 900
Sceptics might argue that the GP is just a naked XSR900 in a Wayne Rainey frock, but the truth is that Yamaha's designers have worked their magic to create a touching and effective tribute to its sporty heritage. The GP's latest Deltabox frame and swingarm are 55mm wider, but are much more compact in corners thanks to the altered chassis geometry.
